Morro Jable
Morro Jable sits at the southern tip of Fuerteventura, on the Jandía peninsula, and marks the end of the long road that runs down from the north of the island. Once a modest fishing settlement, it has grown into the principal resort town of the south, its older streets giving way to a long seafront promenade lined with hotels, shops and restaurants.
The town faces one of the island’s broadest stretches of golden sand, backed by the arid, mountainous profile of the Jandía massif inland. This contrast between sea, beach and rugged volcanic terrain gives Morro Jable much of its character, and the constant Atlantic breeze that funnels along this coast has long made the area popular with watersports enthusiasts as well as sun-seekers.
As a base, Morro Jable offers easy access to the wider beaches and cliffs of the Jandía peninsula, while retaining, in its older quarter near the harbour, some trace of the fishing village it grew from before tourism reshaped the coastline.
