El Paso

El Paso lies inland on La Palma, occupying a broad swathe of the island’s central highlands. Its position among pine forests and volcanic terrain makes it one of the largest municipalities on La Palma by area, and it is often used as a starting point for those heading towards the Caldera de Taburiente, the great volcanic crater that dominates the island’s interior.

The surrounding landscape reflects La Palma’s volcanic character, with the Cumbre Vieja ridge running nearby and shaping much of the terrain. Away from the coast, the area has a quieter, rural feel, with a climate and altitude that differ noticeably from the island’s shoreline towns.

As no specific sites are recorded here yet, El Paso is best approached for now as a gateway to the island’s inland scenery rather than a destination defined by particular landmarks.
