El Pinar

El Pinar lies in the south of El Hierro, its name taken from the extensive pine woodland that covers much of this part of the island. The landscape here is shaped by the volcanic terrain typical of El Hierro, with the tall, fire-adapted Canary pines giving the area a cooler, more shaded character than the coastal districts.

As a rural district rather than a single town, El Pinar is better known for its setting than for any one landmark, offering a quiet base from which to appreciate the forested highlands of the island’s southern reaches.
