Arguineguín

Arguineguín sits on the southern coast of Gran Canaria, a former fishing village that has kept a working harbour at its heart even as tourism has grown up around it. Arguineguín Harbor remains the focal point of the settlement, with boats coming and going and a modest waterfront that feels closer to daily island life than the resort strips further along the coast.

The village faces the Arguineguín Coast, a stretch of shoreline where dark volcanic sand and calm waters characterise Arguineguín Beach, a low-key spot popular with residents as much as visitors. The setting is unpretentious rather than showy, giving the area a grounded, lived-in feel.

Compared with the purpose-built resorts nearby, Arguineguín offers a quieter, more authentic base from which to explore Gran Canaria’s southern shoreline, with the harbour, beach and coast forming a compact, easily walkable core.
