Meloneras
Meloneras sits on the southern coast of Gran Canaria, immediately alongside the famous dunes of Maspalomas, and has grown into one of the island’s more polished resort areas. Rather than the dense, older holiday strips found elsewhere in the south, it is characterised by wide, low-rise developments and a generally more spacious, upmarket feel.
The focal point for visitors is Meloneras Beach, a broad stretch of sand that merges into the wider dune system and gives direct access to the Atlantic. Running behind it, the Meloneras Promenade provides a long, level walkway lined with restaurants, bars and shops, making it an easy and pleasant route for a stroll at any time of day, whether heading towards the dunes or simply taking in the sea air.
As a district, Meloneras functions largely as an extension of the greater Maspalomas resort area, offering a quieter, more contemporary counterpart to the livelier centres nearby while still being within easy reach of them on foot along the coast.
