Santa Cruz de La Palma

Santa Cruz de La Palma is the island’s capital, set on the east coast where the land drops steeply down to a natural harbour. Its old quarter is known for balconied townhouses and a compact, walkable street plan that reflects its long history as a port, with the Atlantic on one side and the steep flank of the Caldera de Taburiente’s wider massif rising close behind on the other.

As the administrative and cultural centre of La Palma, the town has a quieter, more historic character than a typical resort area, shaped more by trade and maritime life than by tourism. No individual sights are catalogued here yet, but the area rewards simply wandering the seafront and old town streets.
