🧭 Overview

Pico de Bandama is the highest point of the Bandama volcanic complex, offering sweeping views over the caldera, Monte Lentiscal, Las Palmas and the northeastern coastline of Gran Canaria.

Pico de Bandama is the highest point of the Bandama volcanic complex, rising to 574 metres above sea level. From its summit, visitors can enjoy some of the most expansive views on Gran Canaria, including the dramatic Caldera de Bandama, the fertile landscapes of Monte Lentiscal and the distant coastline stretching toward Las Palmas.

The viewpoint sits on the rim of a volcanic structure formed by explosive eruptions around 4,000–5,000 years ago. Its elevated position provides a unique perspective on the island’s geological history, revealing layers of volcanic rock, lava flows and the deep cavity of the Bandama caldera below.

Pico de Bandama is easily accessible by road, making it one of Gran Canaria’s most convenient high-altitude viewpoints. A short walk around the summit offers multiple vantage points, each highlighting different aspects of the surrounding landscape — from rugged volcanic walls to cultivated valleys and distant mountain ranges.

The area forms part of the Monumento Natural de Bandama, a protected landscape recognised for its geological significance and biodiversity. The summit is also historically linked to the Monte Lentiscal wine region, where volcanic soils have supported viticulture since the 16th century.

Whether admired at sunrise, sunset or under clear midday skies, Pico de Bandama offers one of the most memorable panoramas on Gran Canaria.
