Valle Gran Rey

Valle Gran Rey sits on the west coast of La Gomera, at the far end of the island from the capital and reached by a winding descent through terraced hillsides. As its name suggests, it occupies a broad, steep-sided valley that opens out towards the Atlantic, with palm groves and small settlements scattered along the lower slopes and around the shoreline where the valley meets the sea.

The area is shaped by this dramatic geography: high volcanic walls channel the valley down to a cluster of coastal villages, giving Valle Gran Rey a distinct sense of separation from the rest of La Gomera. It has long been one of the island’s more remote corners, with a character formed by terraced agriculture, palm cultivation, and the rhythm of a coastline exposed directly to the ocean.

No individual sites are catalogued here yet, but the valley itself remains the defining feature of the area, offering a striking approach and a coastal setting that reflects the wider volcanic landscape of western La Gomera.
