Mirador de Abrante
Mirador de Abrante stands high above Agulo on La Gomera’s north coast, a cliff‑edge viewpoint with a glass skywalk projecting over the volcanic wall. It offers one of the island’s most dramatic perspectives: Agulo’s terraced ledge below, the Atlantic beyond, and Tenerife rising on the horizon.
Mirador de Abrante sits on the volcanic escarpment above Agulo, a sheer cliff that rises abruptly from La Gomera’s north coast. The viewpoint is built directly on the rim, where the land drops hundreds of metres toward the Atlantic, giving a clear sense of the island’s steep, terraced geography.

The structure’s defining feature is its glass skywalk — a cantilevered platform that projects out from the cliff face, suspended above the void. Standing on it reveals Agulo’s compact village far below, set on its natural ledge between the ocean and the surrounding volcanic walls. The contrast between the cultivated terraces beneath and the raw basalt cliffs above is fully visible from this height.

The escarpment catches moisture from the trade winds, feeding pockets of vegetation along the upper slopes and often wrapping the viewpoint in shifting cloud. On clear days, the horizon opens completely, with Tenerife and Mount Teide rising beyond the strait. The combination of altitude, exposure and orientation makes Abrante one of La Gomera’s most striking lookout points.
Paths and roads link the mirador to Agulo and the surrounding highlands, passing through farmland, scrub and the steep terrain typical of the island’s northern interior. The viewpoint suits an unhurried visit — a place to take in the scale of the cliffs, the openness of the Atlantic and the dramatic setting of Agulo below.
