🧭 Overview

Mirador de la Cumbrecita is the most accessible viewpoint into the Caldera de Taburiente, perched on a narrow ledge beneath steep volcanic walls and surrounded by Canary pine.

Mirador de la Cumbrecita sits on the southern flank of the Caldera de Taburiente, a narrow ledge reached by a winding road through pine forest. The viewpoint opens directly onto the caldera’s interior, revealing its sheer walls, deep ravines and the folded volcanic terrain that defines the national park.

The surrounding slopes are thick with Canary pine, their long needles catching moisture from the trade‑wind clouds that drift across the ridge. On clear days the caldera appears sharply lit; on cloudier ones, mist moves through the basin in slow layers.

Short walking paths lead from the viewpoint to nearby ridges, offering variations on the same dramatic perspective. It is one of the most accessible ways to understand the scale of the caldera without committing to a full descent into the valley.
