Butihondo Beach
Butihondo Beach is a pale‑sand shoreline on Fuerteventura’s southern coast, known for its open horizons, dry terrain and steady coastal winds. Its position between Esquinzo and the wider Jandía coastline gives it a distinctive southern character.
Butihondo Beach lies on the southern side of the Jandía peninsula, a wide shoreline shaped by pale sand, open horizons and the dry volcanic terrain typical of the region. The beach stretches between Esquinzo and the long coastal plain leading toward Playa del Matorral.

The shoreline consists of soft sand and gentle slopes descending toward clear Atlantic water. The beach’s orientation exposes it to steady coastal winds, creating shifting sand patterns and a dynamic shoreline compared to the more sheltered areas further east.
The surrounding terrain includes dry slopes, scattered vegetation and the open coastal plain that defines much of southern Fuerteventura. The area’s scale and light make it a popular spot for walking, swimming and long coastal views.

Butihondo Beach forms part of the wider southern coastal zone, connecting with Esquinzo Beach to the west and the expansive shoreline of Playa del Matorral to the east. Its combination of pale sand, open space and southern atmosphere makes it one of the region’s most characteristic beaches.
