🧭 Overview

Cofete Beach is a vast, remote shoreline on Fuerteventura’s western coast, known for its dramatic Atlantic exposure, volcanic backdrop and sense of isolation. Its scale and wild character make it one of the island’s most distinctive natural landscapes.

Cofete Beach stretches along the western side of the Jandía peninsula, a wide and remote shoreline shaped by strong Atlantic exposure and the steep volcanic slopes rising behind it. The beach is known for its scale: long distances, open horizons and a sense of isolation that sets it apart from the more sheltered coasts of southern Fuerteventura.

The sand forms a broad, pale strip between the ocean and the mountains, with shifting patterns created by wind and waves. The water is powerful and often unsuitable for swimming, reflecting the beach’s position on the island’s windward side. The surrounding landscape is defined by the dramatic ridges of the Jandía massif, including the high summit of Pico de la Zarza.

A small hamlet, Cofete village, lies inland from the shoreline, consisting of scattered houses and dry terrain adapted to the peninsula’s climate. The area remains largely undeveloped, preserving its quiet atmosphere and natural character.

Cofete Beach is also known for its views toward the western Atlantic and the rugged contours of the Jandía mountains. The combination of volcanic geology, open space and strong coastal exposure makes it one of Fuerteventura’s most striking natural settings.
