Pico de la Zarza
Pico de la Zarza is the highest peak on the Jandía peninsula, offering wide views over Fuerteventura’s southern coast, the Cofete shoreline and the volcanic ridges of the Jandía massif. Its dry highland terrain and exposed position make it one of the island’s most distinctive inland viewpoints.
Pico de la Zarza rises above the Jandía peninsula as its highest point, a dry volcanic summit overlooking the southern coastline of Fuerteventura. The peak forms part of the Jandía massif, a rugged highland area shaped by erosion, steep ridges and the island’s characteristic inland climate.

The ascent follows a marked trail across open slopes and terraced terrain, gradually revealing wide views toward the Atlantic and the long shoreline of Cofete Beach. The summit offers one of the most expansive inland panoramas on the island, with clear visibility across the peninsula and the surrounding volcanic landscape.
The terrain consists of dry vegetation, rocky ground and exposed ridges typical of Fuerteventura’s highlands. The peak’s elevation and position above the western coastline create a strong contrast between the inland dryness and the powerful Atlantic below.

Pico de la Zarza forms a key part of the Jandía Natural Park, connecting the highland environment with the coastal areas of Morro Jable and Cofete. Its combination of volcanic geology, open views and highland atmosphere makes it one of Fuerteventura’s most notable inland landmarks.
